A female skateboard tournament is causing controversy after its winner – a man pretending to be a woman – won against a 13-year-old biological female and shows no remorse for taking the win from children, despite being an adult male.
The 29-year-old pretend-lady entered the competition with girls as young as ten years old and it wasn’t surprising that the competition had very little chance of beating him.
Ricci Tres, a resident of Los Angeles, won the Boardr Open skateboarding competition held over the weekend and pocketed the top prize of $500 in New York and was met with disapproval by his fellow skater Taylor Silverman.
“Male wins women’s skateboarding finals and money at the Boardr Open NYC presented by DC today,” Silverman, who herself has been beaten by trans skaters, wrote on Twitter.
Second place was given to Shiloh Catori, who claimed $250 in prize money, all other finalists were under the age of seventeen and the youngest Juri Iikura was just ten years old.
Shiloh addressed the matter in a video, saying she was not upset by the loss and added that skateboarding should be open to all.
“If anything, I feel bad for Ricci right now,” the teenager said.
During an interview with the Daily Mail, Tres said, “I’m not going to go easy on them because they’re kids” claiming that skateboarding is not as physically demanding as other sports like swimming or running, and that age and gender would not influence ability.
“It’s funny it’s what I am getting beat up over the most, people saying, ‘You’re beating little kids, little girls.’ I didn’t intend to do that. This is the first one I’ve been to that I actually wanted to win… the age thing doesn’t really count,” Tres protested.
“I’m just skateboarding to be happy. I just want to be happy,” she added.
Tres took to competing against small female children after he was rejected from competing in the Women’s Street USA National Championships because he had too much testosterone, so apparently, they disagree that gender does not play a role.
Tres said: “I don’t think I have [a] physical advantage.”
“Look at me. I’m not buff or anything. I don’t really work out, I just skateboard.
“And I don’t think skateboarding has anything to do with physicality, especially when you look at kids these days. The whole physical aspect of skateboarding isn’t really there. It’s really the skill level.
“Any kind of advantage you get is determined by … skaters know … it’s your commitment and determination.”
“If you love the sport, it speaks to you and you find ways to do what you do on your board,” said Tres.
“If I have any advantage is that I’m extremely determined. But that’s not an advantage. Everyone has the opportunity. It’s kind of like a race car driver. It doesn’t matter what you look like, you can drive the car regardless of your physique.”
The advantage that Tres has is, he is a grown man competing against little girls.
