Americans are pouring out of Democrat-run cities and across the country, these cities have seen a significant drop-in activity in downtown areas – a dip of 50 percent in some cases.
Portland, San Francisco and Cleveland, have all noticed the ghost towns that the main centers have become, and it is the Democrat leadership’s policies that are forcing populations to run to the hills.
There are varying reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is soaring crime rates and this is also turning off potential tourists from visiting these places.
The Institute of Government Studies at UC Berkeley, according to new research, found that the central business district in San Francisco is only operating at 31 percent of what it was before the covid pandemic – this followed closely by Cleveland at 36 percent and Portland sitting at 41 percent.
Researchers from Berkeley found using data from smartphones, that these cities are dying a slow death thanks to businesses closing because of the pandemic, and others who have been forced to close because of “smash-and-grab” crimes – San Francisco has become lawless, and most businesses have a hard time even getting police to show up.
Not surprisingly, Portland downtown areas have been inundated with homeless people, some of which are committing violent crimes and the city is currently ranked as the third-lowest city in downtown activity.
It gets worse for Nancy Pelosi’s district of San Francisco, which the FBI ranks as having the highest overall crime rate among America’s largest cities – and that’s saying something since New York City has become a cesspool.
In 2019, San Francisco had 6,917 crimes committed per 100,000 people, according to the FBI Unified Crime Report data, and that was pre-pandemic numbers. Things have become much worse there since then.
“That was more than double the crime rates in New York and Los Angeles, and well above the rates in the next largest US cities: Chicago, Houston, and Phoenix,” one news report explains.
It seems these cities have got exactly what they asked for, however, since the Democrat leadership decided it would be a good idea to cut funding to police. San Francisco being one of the most affected after the mayor – London Breed – cut $120 million in funding for Sheriff’s departments and police.
Drugs were another problem, after San Francisco allowed homeless people to openly take drugs and as a result, homeless encampments full of junkies started to appear all over the city.
Leadership has now stopped that policy and the city’s Board of Supervisors is asking for additional funding to go towards solving the city’s crime problems, which include car break-ins, theft, violence and drug dealing.
“Crime remains stubbornly high in the Golden Gate City, with overall crime up 7.4 percent as of August 14 compared to the same time last year,” reports explain.
“Assaults are up nearly 12 percent, and robberies are up 2.4 percent. Thefts have spiked by 17.5 percent compared to last year, and rapes have also increased by 9.5 percent.”
