Conservative Midterm Enthusiasm Far Outpaces the Left

There’s something inherent to leftist thinking that makes it particularly vulnerable to the dangers of pride, arrogance, and mental inertia. It’s their natural sense of entitlement, the feeling of being special, and an overriding desire for a final recumbent win. This is part of why they are so attracted to big government, the idea that someone or something big and powerful is bound to help you because you’re so darned special.

Don’t think we conservatives aren’t vulnerable to these kinds of mindsets as well. After all, pride does come before a fall. But we have an advantage in that we have jobs, are used to working, and expect to have to work for our daily bread.

If there’s any good news to be had from the fallout of 2020, it’s that we have been shaken out of any complacency we may have harbored — and we are on track to perform very well in the 2022 midterm elections. The Democratic polling service, Democratic Corps, has turned out a survey that says 68% of conservative voters and just 57% of liberal voters are still politically engaged. That gives the Republicans an 11 point advantage.

Still, we should figure in the Never-Trumpers and RINO republicans. According to the poll, Republicans In Name Only make up just 9% of the engaged voting demographic. According to the poll, those numbers were gathered in battleground states. So, if they are correct, they are meaningful. The poll was published after the loss of the never-Trumper Liz Cheney was given the old heave-ho by the Republican Party. She earned the privilege of getting run out on a rail for her persistent smearing of former President Donald Trump.

It would seem that at a time when the mere idea of Trump-like thinking serves as the driving wedge between parties and ideologies, the MAGA movement is standing its ground.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy commented on Cheney’s ouster saying, “Any member can take any position they believe in. What we’re talking about is a position in leadership. As the conference chair, you have one of the most important jobs as a messenger.”

Cheney responded, saying, she will do everything she can to make sure Donald Trump never again gets anywhere near the White House, adding “We’ve seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language.”

What danger might she be referring to? Not supporting the arms dealership community? Not promoting the sabotage of industry, attacking family values, and promoting American communism, or asking supporters to peacefully leave the Capitol on January 6th?

Since 2015, we’ve learned to spot dishonest actors, especially when they come in the form of permanent anti-Trumpers. They cite “dangers,” accuse him and us of thought crimes they themselves hold, and when asked to give specific examples of the dangers they are talking about, can only mention one or two incidents that have been grossly hyped by CNN.

This is why conservative Trump voters are more engaged than any other group right now. We’re tired of being insulted, lied about, and cheated. Trumpism is alive and well. We want the best for everyone in our country, and we’re not going to let liars stand in our way.
