President Joe Biden’s focus on diversity and inclusion in the American military and government has taken a back seat to putting out fires related the Taliban’s new takeover of Afghanistan after the president’s failure exit plan.
Within days of announcing American military would depart the nation, the terrorist group has taken over much of the nation, including the capital city of Kabul. The airport runway was covered in people seeking to escape the ruthless regime, with thousands of Americans still trapped in the country.
In addition, countless American military guns, ammo, vehicles and other equipment have been left behind and are now in the Taliban’s possession. After 20 years of holding back violence, the Biden administration only took seven months to give it all away.
The events take place less than two months after the Afghanistan Embassy chose to fly a Pride flag outside its building. Biden has also been busy integrating transgender issues into the military, adding diversity training, investigating “extremism” among military members, fighting white supremacy and even discussing legislation to include women in any future military draft.
Some have even cried out to defund the military, just like the voices behind the defund the police movement.
Conservatives have increasingly argued the military has been more focused on social issues that military readiness. While progressives downplayed the attacks as nonsense, the current reality shows there may be more truth to the criticisms.
When it comes down to action, the Biden administration’s policies reveal a woeful lack of planning and execution. Yes, most Americans wanted troops out of Afghanistan after two decades, but no one wanted to leave thousands of Americans at risk of death. People were excited to let the Taliban take over before 9/11/21 either.
Think about it. Twenty years after 9/11, the Taliban will be flying its own flag over Kabul on 9/11. Many are wondering why we even showed up if the nation planned to just walk away in the end. Comparisons with Saigon during the Vietnam War have been made, revealing the time as perhaps Biden’s defining failure that will doom any political future or reelection.
Donald Trump Jr. tweeted on Monday, “Let’s be clear, what’s happening in Afghanistan is Joe Biden’s fault. I’m just glad he bothered to take a whole 10 minutes off his vacation to address the nation and blame everyone but himself without taking questions.”
Now, the Taliban’s spokesman is giving better speeches on live television than our own president. Worse, Twitter continues to support the Taliban by leaving an active account for the “Taliban spokesman.”
And to spite Biden even more, Tuesday offered a lovely photo opp of Taliban members with ice cream cones in a nod to America’s president.
Biden’s woke military policies have led to the worst American foreign policy failure since 9/11 itself. Except this time, it wasn’t a surprise attack on American soil. The event was planned by our own president.
