The Media Owes Gov. Ron DeSantis an Apology for this Proven LIE

Members of the fake news media disgraced themselves by promoting the falsehoods of a “whistleblower” designed to undermine the leadership of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during the early days of the pandemic. Rebekah Jones, a middling health department employee, was widely touted by the media mob as a “scientist” who could prove the Republican governor was altering Covid data.

Jones, who was actually a numbers cruncher at the Florida Department of Health and apparent hacker, claimed her supervisor demanded she alter “raw” data to make it seem more pleasing to media outlets. Truth be told, the so-called raw data was anything but accurate until vetted for discrepancies.

“What she was doing is she was putting data on the portal which the scientists didn’t believe was valid data,” DeSantis said. “So, she didn’t listen to the people who were her superiors. She had many people above her in the chain of command. And so, she was dismissed because of that and because of a bunch of different reasons.”

The liberal health department employee was already in the doghouse with administrators over a history of internal disruption and non-compliance with protocols. Whether she saw the emerging data as an opportunity to claim “whistleblower” status and not get fired is still a matter of concern. Reasonably intelligent people can connect the dots for themselves.

That being said, Jones didn’t exactly perpetrate a fraud on the establishment media. They were already bashing Republican governors across the country for following the science in the context of other health and wellness statistics. It’s no secret lockdowns escalated depression, domestic violence, suicide rates, as well as drug and alcohol abuse. The fake news media didn’t want any part of a level-headed approach to managing the crisis. They preferred panic, masks, and Democrat control instead of constitutional rights. Gov. DeSantis did not bend the knee and the lamestream media willingly elevated her to a left-wing heroine, despite the unsubstantiated allegations.

Almost ironically, Jones appeared on CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time, hosted by the brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at least five times. CNN — widely considered the leader in fake news — was later outed for currying favor with Gov. Cuomo to access Covid testing ahead of New Yorkers. While the likes of CNN, MSNBC, and others embraced Jones and handed Gov. Cuomo an Emmy after falsifying nursing home data, it was fangs out against the Florida governor.

But the establishment media forgot some of its own reporting in a lust to discredit the one governor who apparently made all the right calls. It seems the Associated Press reported in May 2020 Jones said she did not make “any tampering with data on deaths, hospital symptom surveillance, hospitalizations for COVID-19, numbers of new confirmed cases, or overall testing rates.” She also went on the record stating “Florida has been relatively transparent.” Oops.

What they didn’t tell you after she was reassigned was that Jones was also facing criminal charges for stalking, cyberstalking, and sexual harassment. After being effectively demoted without necessarily taking a salary cut, Jones allegedly crashed the Health Department’s dashboard in a fit of anger. Needless to say, she was not only terminated but also eventually arrested. Law enforcement reportedly traced a cyberattack that compromised the personal identity information of 19,000 Florida Department of Health employees to a device located in Jones’ house. The arrest fits a pattern of CNN promoting scurrilous liars and criminals such as porn actress Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, now convicted of wide-reaching charges including extortion.

In the end, the facts proved Rebekah Jones orchestrated a phony narrative the fake news media probably knew was a lie. They just didn’t care. But the facts have now proven members of the dishonest media smeared the good name of the Florida governor. He may not be holding his breath, but CNN, MSNBC, and many others owe him a public apology.
