Univision has reported a new “mother caravan” (“caravana madre”) that plans to depart from southern Mexico to the southern border of the U.S. on Saturday that includes up to 95,000 migrants from Central America and Haiti.
“It will start on 23 (October) because people have the need to walk. This is an exodus from justice and poverty. More than 95,000 people will march north to demand that the laws be respected and their rights respected. We are not conspiring against anyone, but helping people find a better life,” organizer Luis García Villagrán told Univision.
The report confirms previous information from Panama’s leader that 60,000 migrants had passed through their nation en route to the U.S. Another report from last week had noted 80,000 migrants near Mexico’s southern border preparing to move north.
What will happen if and when more than 90,000 migrants show up at our nation’s southern border? Will the Biden administration let them walk in? Will Texas National Guard members try to stop them? Will they even be able to do so?
We’re no longer talking about an open border. This could be an open war. One Mexican activist has already made the claim that, “We are ready for war.” Though the migrants are not widely armed with weapons, the massive number of people could easily lead to an uproar.
But even if any violence is contained, where would tens of thousands of illegal immigrants be detained? Would they be blocked and left in Mexico to handle? Even there, it could lead to strain on the U.S. by having a massive number of people newly added so close to the border.
There are no easy answers to the growing list of questions associated with this latest planned migrant caravan. If Americans thought Del Rio was big, we could be in for six Del Rio’s at once, either in one large group or spread across multiple points along the border.
The scary part is that our intelligence agencies are fully aware of the problem, but don’t seem to have much of a plan to prevent the worst from happening. Last time, Texas horses became part of cancel culture as the Left wanted to falsely blame Texas Border Patrol for whipping Haitian migrants.
It seems like the good guys and bad guys are being switched in the left’s illegal immigration narrative. Those seeking to protect the border are mocked and under-resourced while migrants are bussed to new homes and given a new life paid by taxpayer dollars. Of the 15,000-plus migrants who show up in Del Rio, fewer than 2,000 were deported. The rest are still roaming free in our country.
It’s more than a border crisis; it’s a national crisis. We desperately need a some leadership to step up and say, “No more,” to those seeking to illegally enter the nation and force their way into America.
