White House press secretary Jen Psaki revealed in a CNN podcast Thursday that President Joe Biden has been recommended not to take impromptu questions from reporters.
“That is not something we recommend. In fact, a lot of times we say ‘don’t take questions,'” she said. “But he’s going to do what he wants to do because he’s the president of the United States.”
Our commander-in-chief is more like a hider-in-chief. Just when our nation needs bold leadership to address a global pandemic and oppose radical terrorism worldwide, we get a president told not to answer questions from reporters.
When he does, we have heard the president say, “I’m going to get in trouble for this.”
Who is Biden in trouble with? Psaki? Jill Biden? Americans want to know who is really calling the shots in the Biden administration.
Even Democrats didn’t vote for whoever Biden gets in trouble with. Many voted out of hatred for his competitor rather than any real political issue.
But the national popularity contest for president has turned out to backfire for many now. Instead of bouncing back roaring into the 2020s, our leadership is more like a whimper. Even First Dog Major has more bite.
A growing number of America’s daily advice is coming from Psaki or Dr. Fauci. These leaders each have their place, but they are no substitute for the president of the United States.
Vice President Kamala Harris has taken a more prominent role. She has been assigned to about every other policy in the administration. Some topics, like promoting Biden’s infrastructure plan or communicating with world leaders, have taken a huge amount of time for the vice president.
Other areas, notably immigration, have left Americans wondering if anyone is focusing on this area. Isn’t the “root cause” of the problem a president who change the policies during his first week in office? It seems like the best answer in that case would be to change it back.
But one thing a Democrat can’t do is admit Trump was right. On anything. Instead, Democrats will blame global warming on racism and racism on global warming. They’ll blame increased crime on police brutality and yell to defund the police so crime increases. The circle never seems to stop.
There are lots of questions Americans would like answers to, but it doesn’t help if the president doesn’t speak up. Reading a teleprompter for a speech has its place, but not every place and every time.
Remember when we had a president who wasn’t afraid to address reporters? It didn’t matter how much he was despised. He spoke boldly and often addressed issues political leaders avoided in Washington.
Seems like that kind of perspective is getting drowned in the swamp of D.C. Instead of avoiding questions, it would be great to have a sit down and hear Biden say what he really believes on a wide range of issues.
But that might just help Republicans a little too much in the next election. Democrats will continue to push Biden to, “No comment,” America through the entire four years of his term to have a chance again in the next election. Americans can change this if they want. They just need to use their own voice to speak up and to vote.
