Golf Masters Tournament Pressured to Boycott Georgia’s Election Law

President Joe Biden stated on Tuesday that the decision whether the Masters Tournament should be moved from Atlanta over Georgia’s new voting reform law is up to those running the event.

“It’s reassuring to see that for-profit operations and businesses are speaking up about how these new Jim Crow laws are just antithetical to who we are,” said Biden. “The best way to deal with this is for Georgia and other states to smarten up. Stop it. Stop it.”

The news comes after Major League Baseball (MLB) stated it moved the All-Star Game and Draft from Georgia because of “a law that President Joe Biden recently criticized.”

Biden even appeared on ESPN to argue the game should be moved. “The very people who were victimized the most are the people who are the leaders in these various sports, and it’s just not right. This is Jim Crow on steroids what they’re doing in Georgia and 40 other states,” the president shared on the network.

Jim Crow laws applied legalized racial segregation to parts of America. Georgia’s voting law requires voters show proof of photo ID.

The MLB announced this week the All-Star game will be played in Denver, Colorado. The state already requires photo ID for voting and has a smaller early voting window than Georgia. But Colorado is led by a Democrat governor, so apparently that’s what really matters.

Georgia will lose an estimated $100 million in revenue from the MLB’s decision.

Now golf has become the latest target of the left woke culture. The Augusta tournament, held annually, has an estimated $100 million yearly impact in the region. The Masters is led by the Augusta National Golf Club rather than the Professional Golf Association (PGA).

If the Masters Tournament goes woke, what’s next? Will Georgia’s ultimate Frisbee team leave the state? Is the National Cornhole Association planning to boycott? Even if every sport across the Peach State chooses to move elsewhere, it does not change the law. Instead, it hurts the state’s economy — largely harming the wallets and purses of Georgia’s residents.

The same low income Black and Hispanic voters Biden claims to care so much about are going to become some of first to feel the impact of economic decline in Georgia. While a high income family may be forced to vacation in town instead of in Cabo, the essential workers at your local store will be the first to see a cut in pay or hours worked.

Biden and friends may claim to take some bizarre moral high road by letting people vote without proof of photo ID, but the truth is that winning Georgia in future elections depends on keeping the laws unchanged. Remember the Fulton County #SuitcaseGate case? Hidden cases of votes processed after everyone had left the building?

These are the kinds of concerns Georgia’s voting laws hope to remove in future elections. The only people who would be against such a move are those who don’t want to play by the rules.
