Fake News: Media Smears California Recall Leader With Phony Allegations

With political upstart Larry Elder positioned to unseat Gov. Gavin Newsom in the fast-approaching California recall election, the dishonest liberal media went on the offensive. Working closely with Democrat operatives, the fake news media secured false and misleading information designed to smear Elder’s reputation and undermine his campaign.

Los Angeles prosecutors fielded what has become a commonplace allegation against Republicans and conservative candidates and nominees for the U.S. Supreme Court. A woman claiming Elder loaded a firearm and pushed her in 2014 conveniently surfaced just as Elder emerged as the frontrunner to win the governorship, should Newsom lose the recall vote.

The Democrat-run L.A. attorney general’s office quickly released the claim to the public, knowing the left-wing media would attack. What they failed to mention was they had no intention of making an arrest or even launching an investigation. It appears the one-year statute of limitation had run out years ago.

“Los Angeles prosecutors have declined to pursue a criminal complaint against Larry Elder for allegations of brandishing a gun and domestic abuse, in a 6-year-old case related to statements made by his former fiancée,” the L.A. Times reported. “Datig said she had been told that the L.A. city attorney’s office also would not continue an investigation because of the time that had elapsed. Neither office ruled on the substance of her allegations but said their findings would be rendered moot because the alleged incidents occurred six years ago or more.”

That opened the door for CNN — widely considered the leader in fake news — to smear Elder. The fake news outlet ran a splashy headline that Elder was “under police investigation.” Only the most naïve television watcher would be fooled by CNN’s repetitive trick. Democrats in the government gin up phony allegations so their co-conspirators in the establishment media can manipulate public opinion. As the saying goes, you cannot un-ring the bell, and CNN, among others, got away with trashing the GOP candidate because they don’t like his party affiliation.

Like CNN, left-wing media outlet Politico is also trying to discourage voters from putting the Republican in office. The notoriously biased resource ran a piece attacking the credibility of Elder’s campaign consultant. Claiming the Orange County District Attorney was investigating “over-billing,” the over-the-top headline reads: “Larry Elder’s new campaign manager faced scrutiny for millions in billings to public agency.”

The Politico hit-piece conveniently fails to mention that none of this unsubstantiated “over-billing” is related to the recent work done in conjunction with Elder’s campaign. A spokesman from the organization indicates that audits are routine, and a previous review determined they had under-billed the county by approximately $5,000. Running support for Newsom and other Democrats is all about throwing out eye-popping headlines, knowing most people won’t bother to read and scrutinize the article.

On the heels of polling data that shows Elder enjoys high approval ratings among Black and Latino voters, a terrified L.A. Times has seemingly gone off the rails. The anti-conservative publication unfairly attacked Elder’s character with articles that include: “Larry Elder is the Black Face of White Supremacy. You’ve Been Warned,” “Larry Elder Talks a Lot. Too Bad You Can’t Believe Anything He Says,” and “If Larry Elder is Elected, Life Will Get Harder for Black and Latino Californians.”

It’s fake news mudslinging, pure and simple.
